Hello, this is Jethro Jones. Welcome to Build in Public for today, August 1st, 2026.

Yesterday I had a LASIK follow-up procedure, so I was pretty much unable to use my eyes for most of the day. However, what is amazing is that I had already set up a voice agent on my computer so that I could talk to it and have it do things for me.

It was not perfect, and I still needed help and needed some things to work a little bit better, but it did do a couple things for me that were pretty darn awesome. I thought that was pretty sweet. That was fun. I enjoyed that.

Today I ran into a really unique problem with one of the apps that I have where people send emails through it. Somebody sent emails with pictures and they got rejected. They tried first to resend it 12 times and it never went through because they were sending the same thing, and the pictures were too big to go through. The pictures were 24 megabytes, so that was just way too much for the system to handle.

Today I brainstormed with Codex how to fix that and what to do, and then we fixed it. When I say we fixed it, what I mean is I gave Codex permission to do it.

The other thing that I did today is I saw that there was an error when that person sent the emails, but I never got an error message saying what happened. So I updated a whole bunch of stuff on that and made the user experience significantly better, which I just love it when that happens.

Instead of somebody worrying about whether they attach something, embed it, or just send a link to it, any one of those things will work. Typically, people have a Google Photos album that they share, and I put that into the system so it will automatically share the Google Photos album no matter what.

I also created a thing that told them that when they send the email, they get back the response and it says, here is what was sent and here is what was delivered. We caught this many attachments and this many images. They are all saved in a storage location, so they will be accessible later if the person wants to get them. One thing I still have to build is how they can export all of their videos, photos, or attachments they sent during this time to their own private storage later.

It was pretty cool and a fun problem to solve.

The other thing that I did tonight is I created worker agents for Luna, Max, and ChatGPT 5.6 Terra Max, so that I could hand off roles to those because they are much cheaper. If you make it really bounded, then it will do a really good job. Supposedly. We will see if that happens, but I am going to use that for the next few days and see how it works, and if it saves tokens and makes things work better.

Pretty productive day for not being able to see too well. Glad that the LASIK is done, it went well, and glad that I got to do some things that were fun today, because I really like solving these problems. It is a lot of fun.

When I was a school principal, I would solve problems all the time, and it was my favorite part of the job: finding unique ways to solve some sort of problem. I have always wanted to do it with software, but I never had the software skills to do it. Now what I am really enjoying is using AI to solve those problems that I think are just fun to solve.

The app, the game that I am making for the iPhone, is still in progress. It is just about ready. I am having it get ready for TestFlight right now so I can test it on other people's phones. That is the first step.
